Kaavya Viswanathan, a name which would perhaps have never known to Indians had some of her fellow university scholars not exposed her copying, is suddenly the hot topic of discussion for everyone. The question remains why suddenly the issue has been hyped so much. The fact that there is a sudden increase in the sales of How Opal Mehta Got Kissed, Got Wild, and Got a Life after the controversy adds more to the suspicion. Apart from being fed by whatever crap the media throws at them, the Indians in India have plenty of other intelligent issues to talk about.
